The Society is pleased to acknowledge that Dr. Marshall Lindheimer was awarded the 2009 Joseph Bolinar DeLee Humanitarian Award for his accomplishments over many decades to promote scientific understanding of hypertension and renal disease in pregnancy. Dr. Lindeheimer has devoted a lifetime to the study and prevention of maternal and fetal mortality worldwide. Congratulations!


The 2009 Biennial Meeting for the North American Society for the Study of Hypertension in Pregnancy (NASSHP) will be held at the Double Tree Hotel on the Magnificent Mile in Chicago, IL from Friday October 23rd to Sunday October 25th. Following the format of previous meetings, this years meeting will cover both clinical and basic research topics. The meeting will feature Guest lectures, Concurrent Sessions, a Young Investigator Forum, a Clinical Trials Seminar and a Clinical Debates Session. Registration will include all meals and materials. Registration is $300.00, and the Society has been able to secure a lodging rate of $219.00/ night at the Double Tree.


The NASSHP is responsible for organizing the Scientific Workshop on Hypertension in Pregnancy at the Annual Meeting of the Society for Maternal Fetal Medicine (SMFM). This years meeting was held on Wednesday January 28th, and the speakers included: Dr. Catalin Buhimschi, MD from Yale University, "Discovery of Novel Biomarkers of Preeclampsia", Dr. Ananth Karumanchi, MD from Beth Israel Hospital, "Pieces of the Puzzle: Serum Angiogenic Factors in Special Populations", and Dr. Doug Woelkers, MD, University of San Diego, "Assessing the Degree and Significance of Proteinuria in Pregnancy".
