Membership Information

Requirements
Membership in the NASSHP is open to all clinicians and scientists who have an interest in the study of hypertensive complications of pregnancy and its related fields. Applicants are eligible if they hold residency or research affiliations in Canada, the U.S., or Mexico. An academic appointment is not required for application to the Society, but members are expected to show activity and productivity in their field.

Applications for membership may be downloaded from this website, and are submitted in writing to the Secretary/Treasurer of the Society. Full membership is awarded after review of the application by a panel of the Executive Council and payment of the annual dues.

There is only one class of membership (Regular) for all academic participants in the Society, including young investigators and those in training. Annual Supporting Memberships are available for industry or institutional affiliates who wish to participate in NASSHP meetings and educational events. Regular members are expected to commit themselves to attend the NASSHP or ISSHP meetings one out of every three years, and to show willingness to accept a role in helping to promote and organize such events.

Benefits
Members of the NASSHP enjoy the many benefits of association with a cadre of leading scientists in the field of preeclampsia research. This affords a chance to identify clinical and basic science collaborators and to develop mentoring relationships within the wider realm of medical research. Additional benefits include:

  • discounted registration fees at the biennial meeting;
  • discounted CME fees at NASSHP-sponsored clinical symposia;
  • travel support for young investigators;
  • opportunities to present preliminary research
  • discounted purchase price for Chesley's Hypertensive Disorders in Pregnancy, 3rd ed. (2009);
  • discounted subscription access to the journal Hypertension in Pregnancy
  • opportunity to stay abreast of the latest advances and funding announcements

Dues
The 2010 annual dues is $125. The fees are used in a cost-effective way to support the essential functions of the Society, namely, maintenance of communication with members, travel support for young investigators, and sponsorship of the biennial Scientific Meeting. In this regard, we continue to have one of the lowest membership dues of any academic medical society. Dues statements are sent electronically each June, and are payable by check, money order, or credit card. Dues statement may be downloaded from this website and sent to:
